For DEI professionals committed to building inclusive workplaces, the current wave of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation, Executive Orders and policy changes presents a significant challenge. With the federal government actively targeting transgender individuals and erasing LGBTQ+ visibility, creating welcoming environments has become even more critical. Currently, the ACLU is tracking 388 anti-LGBTQ bills. While the administration moves to erase countless references to LGBTQ+ people from federal websites, at least 8,000 webpages have been impacted, Federal directives have been issued targeting trans people in prison, trans service members, trans youth patients seeking care, and trans athletes and declared that "the only genders recognized by the U.S. government are male and female—and they are assigned at birth.” In light of these extreme attempt to undermine the hard-fought progress of this community as well as the work of DEI professionals to create welcoming environments for members of this community, we cannot remain silent. The IAC is launching a monthly series of webinars, advocacy and resources focused on supporting marginalized communities, starting with the LGBTQ+ community. This is in keeping with our mission to "serve as allies for those who feel marginalized and advocates for inclusive policies and practices." Join us to understand the current landscape, learn from lived experiences, and discover practical strategies for fostering inclusion in the face of these attacks.
